9 Best Beaches in Albufeira

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Albufeira is a world-famous destination for its golden sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. It is also, year after year, the municipality with the most Blue Flag beaches in the country. Whether you crave family-friendly shores, thrilling watersports, or secluded havens for relaxation, Albufeira has a beach to steal your heart.

With all those who visit Albufeira in mind, we have put together a list of what we believe are the 9 best beaches in Albufeira.

Falésia Beach

Unfolding along the coast, Falésia beach displays imposing red cliffs that create a dramatic landscape. This long beach offers endless opportunities for relaxing walks and serene moments by the sea. At sunset, the cliffs light up, providing a scene worthy of paradise.

Falésia Beach was named the world’s best beach in Tripadvisor’s 2024 Travellers’ Choice awards — and in 2026 it is still in the world top five and on the European podium.

São Rafael Beach

Located west of the centre of Albufeira, São Rafael beach is a hidden gem among towering cliffs and sculptural rock formations. A repeated Blue Flag winner, the beach offers not only crystal-clear waters and golden sands, but also a tranquil atmosphere. With just a few steps, visitors are transported to a haven of peace, where the Atlantic meets the Algarve shores.

One of the most beautiful beaches in the Albufeira municipality, São Rafael beach is known for the rock formations that close off the sand and for its clear water.

Olhos de Água Beach

Nestled in Albufeira, Olhos de Água Beach offers a charming escape. This relatively small beach boasts golden sands and calm waters, perfect for a relaxing day. But its true wonder lies beneath the surface.

During low tide, freshwater springs hidden amongst the rocks become visible, earning the beach its name — Olhos de Água, meaning “Eyes of Water”.

Arrifes Beach

Arrifes Beach is a work of art painted by nature. Its unique rock formations, resembling sculptures carved by the hands of time, create a breathtaking scenery. The small coves provide a feeling of isolation, making it a haven for couples and those looking for peace and tranquility. Embrace the serenity as you explore the intriguing rock pools and marvel at the beauty of Albufeira’s coastline.

Galé Beach

Unveiling a vast stretch of golden sand, Galé beach beckons sun worshippers and nature lovers alike. Located just west of Albufeira, this scenic beach offers something for everyone. Whether you are seeking calm waters ideal for families, or rolling waves that entice surfers, Galé caters to all preferences.

Dramatic cliffs frame the soft sand, while rock formations add a touch of rugged beauty. Do not miss the chance to explore the tide pools revealed at low tide, or unwind at one of the beach bars or restaurants lining the shore.

Santa Eulália Beach

Immerse yourself in the charm of Santa Eulália beach, a picturesque beach nestled east of Albufeira’s bustling centre. Framed by golden cliffs and lush pine groves, Santa Eulália offers a peaceful escape. Clear, azure waters lap at the soft sand, making it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, or simply soaking up the Algarve sunshine.

Sun loungers and parasols ensure relaxation, while water sports like jet skiing and kayaking add a touch of excitement. After a refreshing dip, unwind at a beachside restaurant, savouring delicious food with stunning ocean views.

Oura Beach

In Albufeira, discover the vibrant energy of Oura Beach. This lively stretch of golden sand pulsates with activity, attracting sunbathers, families, and water sports enthusiasts.

Gentle waves lap the shore, perfect for splashing around or trying your hand at paddleboarding. When hunger strikes, a vast selection of restaurants and bars line the beachfront, offering everything from casual snacks to fresh seafood platters.

As the sun dips low, the atmosphere transforms, with beach bars turning into lively nightspots.

Coelha Beach

A secluded paradise awaits at Coelha Beach, a hidden gem west of Albufeira. Sheltered by golden cliffs, this charming beach boasts soft sand and calm, clear waters. Perfect for families seeking tranquility, Coelha Beach offers a relaxed atmosphere away from the larger crowds.

Explore the rock formations and hidden coves that hug the shoreline, or simply unwind on the pristine sand. Crystal-clear waters beckon for a refreshing swim, while the nearby restaurant caters to any cravings.

Fisherman’s Beach

In the heart of the city we find Fisherman’s Beach, pulsing with life and energy. With extensive sand and calm waters, this beach is an icon of Albufeira. Around it, the traditional shops, typical restaurants and lively cafés add a touch of liveliness, making it an ideal place for a day full of sun and activities.

As its name suggests, this beach was the entry and exit point for fishing boats, and was the shelter for fishermen until 2003, when the current Albufeira fishing port was built, next to the marina.

Seeing Albufeira’s beaches with us

Reaching these beaches without a car takes effort: some sit well outside the centre, and seafront parking is gone early in August. These two tours are private, collect you from your accommodation in Albufeira, and take in the viewpoints and the beaches the town is named for.
