Participation Conditions

1. When they apply, and how you accept them

They apply to the walking experiences we operate, identified as such on each experience page. On completing the booking, the person booking declares that they have read and accept these conditions, on their own behalf and for the people they are booking for, and that they are in adequate physical condition for walking.

We are licensed as a tourist entertainment agent and as a travel and tourism agency. These licences are only valid and renewable with the required insurance policies active and up to date, which ensures services are provided within national rules.

2. What we do

We check the route regularly, to make sure it remains suitable for the tour.

There are no known hazards along the route, but the tour takes place in public areas, and we take reasonable precautions so that the experience is pleasant and safe.

The route runs through public streets and spaces, in accordance with local rules. When we enter privately owned establishments that are open to the public, those places meet their own legal and safety obligations — the house rules are theirs, and while we are inside they apply to everyone.

3. What we expect from you

• To be able to walk on urban terrain, with slight to moderate inclines, cobbles and steps.
• To understand that the risks are those of a walk in a public area — they may include minor incidents, such as tripping or slipping.
• To come with footwear and clothing suited to the weather on the day. If conditions compromise safety, we may adapt or cancel the tour.
• To follow the guide’s instructions throughout the tour, including the route, the timings and the safety guidance.
• To accompany and take responsibility for any minors you bring with you.

4. Insurance — what is covered, and on what conditions

All our tours carry the insurance required by law: personal accident insurance and third-party liability insurance. Because our tours are made on foot and in a dynamic environment, urban or natural, these covers hold good provided the following rules of conduct are observed.

• Individual responsibility. By taking part, you undertake to follow strictly the guidance and safety instructions given by the guide throughout the route.
• Risks inherent to the terrain. Fortuitous events outside the organiser’s control — such as pavements made slippery by rain, uneven ground, sudden obstacles or unforeseen structural conditions on the public way — are treated as risks inherent to walking, and are covered exclusively by the personal accident insurance, within the limits of that policy.
• Exclusion of civil liability. The company and its guides are not liable for accidents or for damage to property or persons resulting from negligent, reckless or inattentive behaviour on the part of the customer; from disregard of traffic rules or of the guide’s explicit instructions; or from voluntarily leaving the group and from initiatives of your own outside the route set out for the tour.

5. If something goes wrong

Tell us, and tell us early. Most situations are solved quickly when they are raised in time. Nothing in these conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor does it set aside the rights the law gives consumers.

Portuguese law applies, and everything in our general Terms & Conditions remains in force, including access to the Complaints Book and to alternative dispute resolution.

6. The declaration signed at the start of the tour

We still hand out a paper declaration before setting off, particularly on shared tours. It is not a second version of these conditions and it adds no obligations: it is the same text, signed by those taking part.

It exists because the booking is made by one person and the tour is experienced by several. Anyone joining the group on the day has not been through this page, and the signature is how that person ends up as informed as everyone else.
